How Vion Food Group and Simptel Built a Secure Supplier Portal for Farmers

The Challenge

In 2020, Vion Food Group partnered with Simptel to improve the experience of Dutch dairy farmers in an iterative way. The mission was clear: enable farmers to securely and easily communicate and share their data with Vion.

Together with JoinData, who provided consent management and the integration with FrieslandCampina using eHerkenning, the first use case was defined: the secure exchange of grazing data.

The requirements were demanding:

Enterprise-grade security.
Accessibility for farmers
Compliance covering CISO checklists and audit readiness.

The timeline? Ambitious. Vion asked: “Can we go live in January?” By December, the follow-up was: “Can it be even earlier?”

Our answer: “Yes, it can.”

That’s where the story began.

The Solution

Within just weeks, we published the first version of RundveeNet. A supplier portal that allowed farmers to securely manage and share their data with Vion.

The speed and success of the project was possible because of the foundation we had already laid: TF Platform (The Future Platform) – our cloud-native, white-label Identity platform.

With TF Platform, we could deliver:

Identity & Access Management – eHerkenning, organizational access, role management, and SSO.
Security by Design – ISO, SOC2, OWASP, and full CISO readiness baked in.
Developer Control – a fully API-driven approach, enabling rapid deployment of branded services.
User Experience – an intuitive selfservice app for farmers.

The outcome: an enterprise-grade application deployed in weeks, not months.

The Result

What started as a sector-specific initiative became a blueprint for how enterprises can combine compliance, security, and usability without compromise.

For Vion, RundveeNet delivered:

Stronger supplier relationships, thanks to farmer-first design.
Greater operational efficiency in managing access and consent.
Future-proof compliance built into the foundation.

For Simptel, it validated our mission: launch secure applications in weeks, not months, with out-of-the-box identity, access, and communication building blocks.
